So I am in the midst of my extenship practicum interviews and I am hatign this process. I have to tell you that this has got to be one of the DUMBEST ways to do things. I am serious, there are some rules and regulations that we have to follow. I do not know if it is the way the school does it, but the process of accecpting offers is asinine. Allow me to share this:
"Make a rank ordered list of sites you would like to be placed with next year based on your interview experiences. This will help you make informed decisions based on your interests rather than emotions the morning of the 28th when sites begin to call.
· If your #2 site calls at 9am, you may ask them if you can think about the offer and get back to them within a specified time period (it is up to them how much time they may or may not give you). If they let you put them on "hold" you may then call your #1 site (I would wait until 9:30 or so to give sites a chance to place calls first if you can given your time constraints from site #2) to see if you are being considered for an offer. If they say yes I was about to call you, then accept their offer and immediately call site #2 to let them know you have accepted elsewhere, but thank them for their consideration.
· Sites may not allow you to put them on hold and will want an answer on the spot. You will need to make a decision at that point whether to accept or decline and wait for sites higher on your list to call.
How incredidibly dumb is that? They want you to make a decision that will affect your life for a full year on a matter of minutes not days. When applying to grad school I was given several weeks to make a decision, whereas here we are essentially given just an hour or so.
I reiterate, the process is asinine.

That's ridiculous. Like you said, no one should be expected to make a major decision in a two-minute phone call. What the hell's wrong with a letter of acceptance?
What if you don't pick up your phone and make them leave a message? At least you'd know that they called, and you could ask around and find out where else you were accepted.
Career hoops are so annoying.
actually no, becuase if you dont call them back, they think you are not interested and poof, your offer is gone!!!
